Clos LaChance Wedding Photos – Bridal Prep

Here are some bridal prep, otherwise known as pre ceremony session, pre wedding shots, bride getting ready, behind the scenes before the wedding and Pre Ceremony preparation.

These images are from a recent wedding I shot over at Clos LaChance. This is a winery over in San Martin, in the area of Gilroy and Morgan Hill. If you haven’t been there, Clos LaChance is a great wedding venue and a great winery to visit if you are down in that area.

Please enjoy these bridal prep images.

Here’s a bit of information about Clos LaChance Winery.

THE NAME AND SYMBOL: Clos LaChance Winery takes its name from the small fenced-in area encompassing a vineyard (Clos) and from co-owner Brenda Murphy’s maiden name. The Murphy’s chose the Hummingbird as the winery’s symbol for both its aesthetic beauty and its ability to keep other birds away from the grapes.

HISTORY: In 1987, co-owners Bill and Brenda Murphy decided to plant a few rows of Chardonnay in their Saratoga backyard for landscaping purposes and to realize their dreams of being vintners. A few years later, the wines produced from this small backyard vineyard were good enough to sell to the public. It was at this point that Clos LaChance formed into a full fledged winery. The first commercially released wines were from the 1992 vintage.

In 1996, in order to ensure a continuing supply of high quality fruit, Bill and Brenda established CK Vines, a vineyard maintenance and installation company specializing in “back-yard” vineyard development throughout the Santa Cruz Mountains appellation. CK Vines is named after the Murphy’s two daughters (Cheryl and Kristin). Currently, CK Vines manages 40 acres of backyard vineyards in the Santa Cruz Mountain and Central Coast AVA’s. Click here for more details on CK Vines.

WINERY LOCATION: Clos LaChance Winery & Estate Vineyard is located in San Martin, CA (20 miles south of San Jose). The Murphy’s opened the winery production facility in time for the 2001 harvest, while the Hospitality Center, including tasting room, patio, and banquet and wedding facilities, opened to the public in May of 2002. Adjacent to CordeValle Resort & Golf Course’s 6th hole, the winery is ideally situated and designed to provide visitors with breathtaking views of the Estate Vineyard and surrounding hills.

TASTING ROOM: Clos LaChance’s Hospitality Center and Tasting Room welcomes visitors daily, offering a wonderful selection of wines and breathtaking views of the South Bay’s Wine Country. Whether you’re a wine geek or newbie, Clos LaChance’s knowledgeable tasting room staff will guide you through the magic of making and enjoying wine. The winery offers a variety of wine tasting programs and tours to choose from, including a “Limited Edition” tasting featuring reserve and small production wines, tours of the cellar and a demonstration vineyard presentation. The winery also offers a handful of special events throughout the year, along with Time for Wine every Thursday.

Clos LaChance encourages guests to enjoy the scenic beauty surrounding the winery by relaxing with a glass of wine on the outside patio overlooking the vineyards. In 2005, the winery installed a regulation sized Bocce Ball Court. Check our What To Do page for more details on our tasting room programs and special events.

ESTATE VINEYARDS: Clos LaChance Winery produces quality and affordable wines from 150 acres of  Estate Vineyards. The vineyard is planted to a diverse collection of varietals that are ideal for the growing conditions. The Estate Vineyard  possess excellent soils, little precipitation during the growing season and the warm days and cool nights necessary for ripe flavor development and great natural acidity.

WINES: In 2006, Clos LaChance introduced a new three-tier brand architecture that better defines the winery’s focus on estate and vineyard-designated wines. Under this new direction the winery produces wines under three categories:

The Special Selections Series
The Estate Series
The Hummingbird Series

I hope you enjoy these wonderful wedding photos from Rhodalyn & Miguel’s wedding at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Foster City, CA. Below are some of my faves and if you click on the last pic you can see a slideshow of wedding pics.

The day began with a bridal prep at the hotel very early in the a.m.

The hour long catholic ceremony was held at St. Catherine of Siena in Burlingame, CA.

After the ceremony we took family photos on the altar. Then proceeded to the Japanese Tea Garden and Rose Garden at San Mateo Central Park. There is a Gazebo in the rose garden that has some great lighting for close-ups.

There are actually many photo ops i.e., places to take your wedding photos in and around Central Park in San Mateo. Make sure your photographer and videographer are aware of this place if you are having your wedding on the peninsula.

As mentioned, the reception was held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Foster City, CA. I got many great shots there!

My backlight flash comes in handy for shots like the one below.

Sebastiani Winery – Katherine & Jeffery

These are pics from a very recent wedding in July of 2010. There were several locations involved in the wedding, all of which were right smack dab in the heart of Wine country in Sonoma, CA. The wedding reception was at the Sebastiani Winery in Sonoma, CA. However, the bride first gets ready at the Lodge in Sonoma. This is a hotel just off highway 12 as you drive into downtown Sonoma.

The ceremony took place at a nice Catholic church called St. Francis Solano Church in downtown Sonoma, CA. They didn’t allow any flash during the actual ceremony but this is typical which most churches. Besides, the flash doesn’t help you much anyway for wide shots like this. A great photographer must know how to use the ambient light to their advantage.

After the ceremony, I took the wedding court to the Sonoma Town Square. This is the main area you see when you drive into downtown. There are many photo opportunities at the Town Square in Sonoma.

As previously mentioned, the wedding reception took place at the Sebastiani Winery in Sonoma. They have the reception in the barrel room and the cocktail hour is in the courtyard. Of course, the grounds of the Sebastiani make for great photo opps. Here are some of the wedding pictures I took of them on the grounds before they made their grand entrance.

I also took some wonderful photos of the bride and groom by themselves, without the bridal party. The photo below was taken in the grove just before you enter into the vineyards. I really like how the trees frame the couple.

Below is one of my favorite pics of the day. Even though the shot is really basic, the emotion and joy on the bride and groom’s face is clearly present and captured in the pic. Much of the success of your wedding day photos lies within your ability to feel at ease with your photographer. My easy going personality makes it really ease for my clients to feel comfortable with me and then I can get photos like this.

And finally, The Sebastiani Winery. What a great place to have your wedding. The barrel room is quite dark but that’s ok because I know how to shoot in low light venues.
